In July 2009, Sgt. Mark Gallagher left the comfort of his Maritime home for a nine-month stint in Haiti. He was involved with the training of police officers there, as part of the UN's international peacekeeping mission.
He had just returned to Port-au-Prince to complete his mission when the quake hit on January 12th. Mark died in the rubble of his rented apartment.
Friends of the late Mark Gallagher are coming together to raise funds for the construction and furnishing of a new vocational school to be located in Riviere Froide, Haiti.
Donations by cheque or through PAYPAL available.
The NBCC Touch a Truck event raised over $10,000.
